Job Summary
We’re after a brilliant, forward thinking freelance book keeper to do weekly book keeping for our independent jewellery business Petra Jewellery, based in Basingstoke.
We’d love to work with someone that really cares about helping us continue to grow and fits our culture with a growth mindset and pro-active approach.
The more accounting skills you have the better, we want and value a quality service and expect you to keep our accounts accurate ready for regular financial analysis.
The detail
We handle a large volume of supplier invoices and delivery notes each week which we process via Hubdoc once payment is authorised by the team. From there they need to be processed by our bookkeeper onto Xero.
Essential skills required:
- Reconciling invoices and payments each week, highlighting any anomalies
- Contacting suppliers
- Managing the accounts email account
- Processing weekly sales figures by sales category
- Checking Day End reports
- Processing data from our stock reports
- Prepare Monthly Management Accounts
- Quarterly VAT returns
- Keep Fixed Asset Register and Balance Sheet up to date
- Monthly payroll
Additional responsibilities:
- Running reports on Xero, going through them with the MD
- Assist us in providing accurate job costing
Other elements to your role:
- Work closely with the MD (Mitch Lloyd)
- Work closely with our accountants (Krystal Clear Accounting)
The Business
We’re not a typical independent jewellers: we’re looking for positive, fun people who relish being part of an extremely forward thinking and motivated team. Based in Basingstoke, we have a very well established customer base both locally and nationally, built up since 1979. We are located in a contemporary new premises called ‘The Cottage’, where we specialise in designing and making bespoke pieces of jewellery as well as offering a comprehensive repairs service.

You can work remotely, however we'd love to see you perhaps once a month.
There's free parking at the Viables Craft Centre. Free drinks, regular social events: we want you to feel part of the team.
Hours: We’d estimate half a day per week to do the general book keeping admin plus a couple of hours for project work and month end activities. We’ll pay an agreed monthly retainer which can be reviewed over time and appreciate flexibility.
